Being Real on Instagram Reels: An Authentic Tool to Enhance English Speaking Skills

As technology rapidly develops new features, empirical testing of their capability to assist in educational purposes are always needed. This study takes a look at Instagram Reels, which is seldom explored as language teaching tool, especially for vocational high school students. aims describing students’ perceptions, challenges, and strategies using reels an authentic tool improving speaking skills. The research used descriptive qualitative methods. subjects the were five eleventh-grade students from one public schools Bali, Indonesia. They selected by conducting purposive sampling technique. observation interview conducted collect data. findings show that a) perceptions on implementation improve skills favorable. Most agreed implementing was adaptable, effective, authentic. It also increased abilities, referred positive attitudes. boosted consciousness, motivation, enhancing vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, accent, cultural knowledge. b) Students faced variety challenges when learning medium, such limited internet access lack digital literacy. To overcome some strategies, namely WIFI facilities or other places, practicing lot, seeking additional information literacy reels.
